Yoruba and Hausa youths clash in Lagos, resulting in gunshots

Residents near Alaba Rago, a market adjacent to the LASU, heard gunshots on Monday morning following the confrontation between the two parties.

According to eyewitnesses, what began with stone-throwing escalated to gunshots and the use of dangerous weapons as security agents attempted to calm the situation.

The conflict started with the alleged beating and killing of a Hausa motorcyclist by NURTW officials as a result of the road transport unionists’ constant harassment and increasing dues.

Witnesses claim that Hausa motorcyclists gathered to protest the alleged mistreatment, resulting in complete chaos in the city.
