The May/June 2021 West African Senior School Certificate Examination has been rescheduled by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) (WASSCE).
On Friday, the exam body announced on Twitter that the tests, which were previously scheduled for May/June, will now take place between August 16 and September 30.
The council also refuted media claims that the exams had been postponed, according to Demianus Ojijeogu, head of public relations WAEC, Nigeria.
WAEC also explained remarks made by its national head, Patrick Areghan, saying he was quoted out of context.
He also mentioned that the international timetable for the examination’s conduct will be published in due time.
The new dates announced by the examination body were in accordance with the existing academic calendar and were worked out in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Education, according to Ojijeogu.
