Of recent vintage, The Rivers State government has gotten the attribute as one of the most responsive and active. This is in sync with its role in providing social amenities and protecting lives and properties. As much as the state’s legislative body makes policies, the executive arm is always there to implement them. Construction of roads, amongst many others projects, is one of the areas where the governor and his council records resounding victory. As a result, Gov. Nyesom Wike, in his so many addresses, lays emphasis on his commitment to people’s plight. In his words, the people of the oil-rich state are the drive and bedrock of his administration. Therefore, mapping out plans that will benefit them and the Niger Delta region is his concern.

Governor Wike says Burna Boy is a pride of Rivers State

Known for his strictness to talks on insecurity, the rhetoric statesman has again shunned the recent loss of security operatives. Below is an excerpt from a statement by, Kelvin Ebiri, the special assistant to Gov. Nyesom Wike on media:

Firstly, there is no justification for such a heinous and condemnable attack. To clarify, these targeted individuals are innocent security personnel on legitimate duty of protecting life and property in Rivers State.

Similarly, the aide also remark that: “The Government of Rivers State is saddened by the unwarranted callous attack on security personnel. We offer our sympathies to the relatives of those who lost their lives in the attack.”

While sharing his grief and condemning the act, he mentions that “the governor wants the security operatives to be right on check.” That is to say, they also have to focus on their security and well-being as they discharge their duties.

Lastly, Kelvin Ebiri promises, as part of the governor’s words, that the perpetrators will be charged.
