Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has recommended locals to get dane gun licenses from local government areas for self-defense.
On Sunday, he spoke at an interdenominational church service at the Chapel of Grace in Government House, Makurdi, to mark the end of a seven-day prayer and fasting campaign for peace in the state.
“I will no longer publish the deaths of those slain by Fulani herdsmen; stand up and defend yourselves with non-legal weapons such as bows and arrows, spears, and knives. Get a dane gun license from the local government authority and use it to defend yourself,” he said.
“God promised me a long time ago that no weapon fashioned against me would flourish as long as I lived within the circle of his presence,” he stated.
