Wizkid, the Nigerian superstar, has quietly announced that he would alter his name.
While it’s purely speculation at this point, all signs point in that direction. Wizkid has finally decided to change his name.
Wizkid, the 30-year-old singer, hasn’t always been known as Wizkid. He used to be a member of a gospel group as a kid, and his stage name was Lil Prinz.
He did, however, release his first studio album as Wizkid, titled “Superstar.”
It’s uncommon for artists as well-known as Wizkid to alter their names after spending so much time at the top. 2face, on the other hand, did when he changed his name to 2baba years ago.
Remember that, as the hype for “Made in Lagos” grew, Wizkid tweeted that he would only release one more album as Wizkid after MIL was out.
That could only indicate one of two things. Either he’ll alter his surname or he’ll resign. However, retirement does not appear to be an option.
He changed his Instagram display name to “Big Wiz” earlier today, which has gotten followers talking.
Is he going to start referring to himself as Big Wiz? So, I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
