Delta: Police use a dying vigilante’s declaration to apprehend a suspected murderer

The Delta Police Command has announced the arrest of a young man in connection with the suspected assassination of a vigilante.
DSP Edafe Bright, the Public Relations Officer (PPRO), said on Wednesday.
According to the spokesman, the perpetrator, who is 25 years old, confessed to being a member of the gang that assaulted the victim.
Onajite Okolejo, a member of Nigeria’s Vigilante Group, Zone 12, Hausa Quarries, was the victim.
CSP Tanko Mammud, Divisional Police Officer ‘A’ Division Warri, sent a patrol team to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital.
“At the hospital, the victim made a dying declaration that one of the criminals who assaulted him was one Sahlisu, whose surname was unknown,” according to the statement.
“Mohammed (believed to be the surname) was arrested and has confessed,” Bright said, citing intelligence gathering.
Other criminals, according to the police, are being pursued. Members of the public were encouraged to provide reliable information, according to the command.
