Buhari’s absence from the late COAS Attahiru’s funeral has now been revealed by the presidency

The Presidency has explained why President Muhammadu Buhari did not attend the burial of Ibrahim Attahiru, the late Chief of Army Staff, and ten others in Abuja. On Saturday, May 22nd, the burial took place.
Mr Buhari, according to the Presidency, required at least 48 hours of clearance before leaving the Presidential Villa for any occasion. Lauretta Onochie, the presidential spokesman, announced it on her social media website.
She wrote the following:
“For a President to attend a funeral or event outside the Presidential Villa, intelligence operatives must conduct surveillance and clearance for at least 48 hours before the President can go based on the Security report.”
“You don’t expect the President to go somewhere where there is no security clearance if the COAS and his staff perished yesterday and had to be buried today.”
“The 48-hour time limit was not met. Funerals, in the parlance of insecurity, are where politically exposed people are more at risk.”
