Ronald Koeman has hit back at reports that the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday will determine his future as Barcelona boss.
Koeman, 58, has had a mixed first season in charge since joining on a two-year contract last summer.
Barca is in a three-way title battle with both Madrid clubs thanks to a revival, but there have been significant defeats, such as last week’s El Clasico.
According to local media, if Koeman fails to win silverware, he will be fired.
“It’s funny that I have to react to these types of questions because we went 19 games without losing,” the Dutchman explained.
“We’ve already lost one game, and I need to talk about my future?”
“Perhaps I should consider this. My deal is for another year. I understand there is a lot of pressure, and I can handle it, but it can be weird at times.”
Barcelona is currently in third place in La Liga, two points behind leaders Atletico Madrid, but they have lost a lot of crucial games this season.
