Auchi Poly students’ resumption has been postponed indefinitely due to the ASUP strike

Auchi Polytechnic’s resumption for the new academic session has been postponed indefinitely.
Dr. Godwin Ihionkhan, the institution’s registrar, announced this in a statement on Saturday.
“This is to remind staff and students that management has indefinitely postponed resumption for the new academic session,” he said.
Despite the Federal Government’s offer of $15 billion, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has pledged to continue its nationwide strike.
The strike, according to ASUP President Anderson Ezeibe, will proceed.
ASUP called a strike on April 6 to demand that a new pay structure for polytechnic lecturers be implemented.
ASUP clarified that its decision to down tool was made to draw the government’s attention to the union’s nine basic needs, including the need to release the 10 months in arrears of the new minimum wage owed to its members in Federal Polytechnics, as well as the enforcement of the new minimum wage in the many states that have yet to do so.
